 Training Needs Analysis
Course Synopsis

An effective Training Needs Analysis (TNA) will be able to identify training gaps or non-training issues. Training Needs analysis is a basis for training design, delivery and evaluation. By acquiring the knowledge and skills of TNA, organisations will be able to identify the actual training needs and evaluate its implementation effectiveness.

Course Objectives

At the end of the programme, participants should be able to:

  - Define clearly what a Training Needs Analysis (TNA) is and its purpose
  - Conduct effectively the needs assessment/ analysis for training and development
  - Understand the importance of being able to clearly define and articulate the business needs, and demonstrate how to secure stakeholder involvement and commitment
  - Use appropriate needs assessment methods to collect data for analysis
  - Propose a Training Plan for implementation of appropriate training interventions
  - Evaluate the training effectiveness, after the implementation of Training Plan

HR Practitioners or anyone who is involved in identifying or evaluating the training needs of the organisation.

Course Outline

1. Understand the principals and factors that go in to an effective strategic needs assessment. Why is it needed and how does it benefit an organisation for performance improvement?
2. Identify different data types (Business, Performance, Learning & Learners). Why is it important to look at data from different perspectives?
3. Identify different data sources. Why are they needed and when should they be used?

Mrs Sarojaini Nair has more than 38 years of experience as a Professional Trainer for the Service Industries. Her extensive customer service area includes spearheading various customer service relationship management initiatives for both the public and private sector. She brings with her practical experiences having worked at NTUC and large local corporations.
