There were various amendments to the Employment Act in recent years. What were some of these key changes and how does a manager/supervisor manage his/her staff or workforce in practical ways and without contravening provisions of the Employment Act? The workshop also touches other key issues to be addressed in the employment contract; how do you handle disciplinary issues; termination or dismissal etc. You gain practical tips and insights from examples in interactive case studies and more. Managers and supervisors are reminded to be both lawful and yet practical in their management of people and operations.
Course Objectives
At the end of the workshop, learners will be able to:
1. Establish if employee can be offered higher starting pay in lieu of overtime claim.
2. Determine if employer can dismiss employee who is frequently on sick leave.
3. Know if employee can use annual leave to offset notice period.
4. Ascertain if employer is obliged to grant maternity leave to employee for her third child.
5. Answer if foreign workers are entitled to all benefits under the Employment Act.

Mr Nicholas Sim
Mr Nicholas Sim is an accredited Senior Human Resource Professional, Trainer, Facilitator, and Coach. He has a Bachelor degree in Human Resource Management from Curtin University of Technology (Australia) and a Master degree in Business Administration from University of Birmingham (UK). He is also a full-ACTA certified Trainer. He conducts numerous public and client in-house workshops and courses in employment laws, union relations, and HRM topics for various institutions. Nicholas corporate career includes having been Divisional Director (HR) with Nanyang Technological University and Vice-President with OCBC Bank. Prior to these, he was with SIA Engineering, Royal Ahold-Kerry, Varta Batteries, and Singapore Island Country Club.
